Students at Straits International Penang Primary follow the National Curriculum for England and the Cambridge Curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science.
Students develop their literacy skills and enjoy the challenge of developing their phonics into spelling, grammar and punctuation skills. They develop good habits in reading and writing and start to become competent in speaking and listening.

Students build upon the knowledge and skills from Key Stage 1, with learning becoming more in-depth as they progress. They increasingly take responsibility for their learning and development, growing in independence. Mandarin classes are now conducted entirely in Mandarin and students are presented with more opportunities for wider school roles, such as sports teams, school council and whole school productions.

7.30 – 7.50amÂ
Students arrive and ease into the school day, greeted by their teachers and peers. This calm, structured start helps them feel settled and ready to learn.
8am – 2.40pmÂ
Students engage in a broad and balanced curriculum, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Languages. Lessons are designed to build knowledge, critical thinking and real-world understanding.
2.40 – 3.30pm
Students take part in a variety of co-curricular activities that support their personal interests and social development, from creative arts and sports to technology and team-based challenges.
3.30 – 3.45pmÂ
Students finish the day with a calm and smooth transition. Staggered collection helps to ensure that they leave feeling confident and supported, ready to return feeling refreshed.
3.45 – 5pmÂ
Students can stay on for supervised activities in a relaxed setting. This optional time offers space for enrichment, quiet tasks or simply winding down after the school day.
