October Science Holiday Programme for Children in Penang 2026

Make this October school holiday meaningful with an exciting week of science at Straits International School Penang!

Held from 12–16 October 2026, our five-day Science Holiday Programme gives children the opportunity to build, experiment, explore and create through engaging hands-on activities. From engineering a working DIY elevator to investigating animal habitats, visiting a science farm, creating colourful chemical reactions and discovering the universe, every day introduces a new scientific adventure.

The programme is designed to encourage scientific curiosity while developing creativity, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through practical activities and real-world exploration, children can experience Amazing Learning and discover how science connects with everyday life.

Monday, 12 October: Science Mission – DIY Elevator

Can you build an elevator that really works?

Children will become young engineers as they design and construct their own DIY elevator. This practical STEM challenge encourages them to think creatively, work collaboratively and apply problem-solving skills to bring their ideas to life.

Tuesday, 13 October: Habitat Detectives

Children will become habitat detectives and discover how animals survive in different environments.

Through the Build-a-Habitat Challenge, they will explore animal adaptations, natural habitats and the basic needs of living things while designing their own creative habitat.

Wednesday, 14 October: Science Farm Adventure

Science goes beyond the classroom!

During this exciting Science Farm experience, children will explore how science appears in nature, agriculture and the world around them. This outdoor learning opportunity connects classroom knowledge with meaningful real-life discoveries.

Thursday, 15 October: Bright Colours, Big Eruptions!

Get ready for a colourful, fizzy and bubbly day of science!

Children will participate in exciting experiments, including:

• Rainbow Candy Science Experiment
• Mini Volcano Eruption

These hands-on activities introduce children to colours, chemical reactions and cause and effect in a fun and memorable way.

Friday, 16 October: Discovering Our Universe

The week concludes with an exciting exploration beyond planet Earth.

Children will discover planets, stars and space while creating their own DIY Colouring Astronomy Project. This creative session encourages curiosity about the universe and inspires young minds to look beyond our world.
